Rebecca's English countryside table

We love influencer Rebecca Lovatt’s beautiful home and how she has styled an end of summer al fresco table.

My Talking Tables summer garden party was inspired by the gorgeous solar lanterns. The navy and turquoise and pink work so well together that I wanted to create a table to match. I used a turquoise tablecloth with accents of pink, a folded pink tablecloth as a runner to pick out the pink lanterns and then filled the table with gloriously coloured glass candlesticks and candles to bring more complementary colours.

I wanted a riot of late summer colours but with a hint of autumn in the air so the paisley patterned bunting was the perfect solution. It contains all the colours from the lanterns and table but also has oranges and yellows to replicate this time of year.

I adore florals and use as many flowers as will fit on a table comfortably, there has to be room for guests (!) but a table filled with flowers and candles makes guests feel spoiled. The more that you can add to the table in terms of extras (beautiful plates, sparkling cutlery and glasses, napkins) the more your guests will feel treasured.

Have a theme or look in mind and it makes decorating the table very simple. I used seasonal colours as a starting point, we can’t deny the end of summer but we can embrace autumn with rich pinks, warm oranges and vibrant yellows. This led me to the theme of a ‘Last Hurrah’, a party to celebrate a truly wonderful summer and to ease us into a cosy autumn.
